One of the most iconic and beloved trees in England — the Sycamore Gap Tree, standing alone in the dip of Hadrian's Wall, has captured the hearts and imaginations of people across the country for generations. In September 2023, it was senselessly felled overnight, and the loss was felt far and wide. I wanted to capture it as it was — vital, solitary and magnificent — so that it lives on through art.

This painting is for everyone who stood beside it, photographed it, or simply loved what it represented. A symbol of resilience and quiet beauty in the wild Northumberland landscape.

About this original

This is a one-of-a-kind original artwork, created in my loose line and wash style. This piece was painted using Derwent Lightfast Intense colours — highly pigmented and professionally lightfast — giving the artwork a vibrancy and richness that sets it apart, while ensuring the colours remain true for many years to come. Painted on premium A4 quality fine art paper.

Each piece is individually drawn and painted by hand, so small variations, natural marks and imperfections are part of the character of the original rather than flaws.

Please note that colours can appear slightly different depending on your monitor, phone or other screen settings. I do my best to show each artwork as accurately as possible.

Presentation: Unless otherwise stated, the artwork is supplied unframed. The frame shown in any photographs is for display purposes only.
