The Sunderland International Airshow has thrilled crowds on the seafront for decades — a spectacular summer spectacle that has drawn families, aviation enthusiasts and day-trippers to the north east coast year after year. For me, it holds something more personal: vivid memories of being taken here as a child by my Dad, standing on a busy seafront watching the Red Arrows carve their trails across the sky. This painting is my attempt to capture that feeling — the noise, the colour, the crowd, the salt air — distilled into a single loose, joyful moment.

About this original

This is a one-of-a-kind original artwork, created in my loose line and wash style using artist quality watercolour paint. The painting captures the energy and movement of the airshow — the Red Arrows in formation above a sun-drenched, bustling seafront — in the fluid, expressive style that defines my work. Painted on premium A3 hot press fine art paper, which gives crisp, clean lines and beautiful washes of colour.

Each piece is individually drawn and painted by hand, so small variations, natural marks and imperfections are part of the character of the original rather than flaws.
