Me with my best mate, my Cocker Spaniel, Bonnie.

Hi, I’m Stephen, and this is my Cocker Spaniel Bonnie!

I’ve spent most of my working life in management, focused on organisation, people, and keeping things running smoothly. Outside of work, I always gravitated toward structured, technical hobbies — teaching myself development and building small projects in my own time.

It was a fast, problem-solving way of working and thinking, both professionally and personally.

Over time, my health began to change the pace of things. A long-term eye condition, along with other ongoing health issues, meant I had to step back from the constant intensity I was used to and rethink how I spent my time.

I wasn’t looking for a new direction in art. I was simply looking for something quieter — something I could do without pressure or precision.

Drawing and painting appeared almost by chance.

What started as a way to slow down gradually became something I kept returning to. Working with line and colour offered a different way of seeing things — less about control, more about observation and response.

Over time, those early pieces developed into urban-inspired work. Everyday places, streets, and familiar scenes reinterpreted through line, shape, and colour rather than strictly recorded.

I still work in a structured environment, but my creative work now sits alongside it in a very different space — more open, intuitive, and personal.

Each piece comes from observation and interpretation, shaped as much by memory and feeling as by the subject itself.

This is where I share that work. If something connects with you, I’m always pleased when a piece finds a home beyond the studio.
